Working with Parents
Each child has a contact book, which they bring to nursery on a daily basis. This allows parents to see how their child has eaten and slept during the day, as well as their toileting details. There is also some detail on the activities their child has participated in. In addition the nursery staff are always available at the end of the day to discuss further with parents the child's day, and to answer any questions they may have.
We plan our nursery activities using the Early Years Foundation Stage. We make regular observations on every child so we can find out what the children are interested in, and at what stage of development they are at. These observations are reviewed regularly so we can plan the next step for each individual child. We then use this information to plan activities that are both exciting for the children, as well as moving them forward developmentally.
Parents are invited to view and discuss these observations with their child's key worker whenever they want. Every room displays their planning on a weekly basis, and regular updates are given on each child's individual planned next steps.
